Awareness/Challenge Poster

These posters are to be used in security awareness campaigns on phishing and other fraudulent messages

Internet fraudsters use various strategies to harm you and/or your company. A popular and widespread method is to send you messages with dangerous content. These messages can be dangerous in different ways. The messages may ask you to make transfers, make (chargeable) calls, or contain dangerous links and/or dangerous attachments. The messages can be sent in the form of emails or any other form of messages. In the case of dangerous links in emails, these are often referred to as phishing emails.

Recommendations for using the posters

The provided posters serve to raise awareness, motivate people to engage with the topic of “fraudulent messages”, and acquire basic knowledge. The driving idea behind the posters is that they displayed in places where people congregate rather than where they will remain unseen. Such places include the canteen, where people regularly queue, in the elevator or a waiting area.

Some posters are easy to recognise as examples of fraudulent emails, while others contain legitimate emails. To make it more difficult to distinguish between fraudulent and non-fraudulent emails, posters with fraudulent and non-fraudulent emails should be displayed separately. This makes it impossible to identify differences by visual comparison alone. Instead, the posters are intended to encourage people to think for themselves about the legitimacy of a message or to discuss it with others waiting in line, so that they can help each other.

Third-party interaction is not necessary. The QR codes provide a resolution and an explanation of why the email in question is a phishing email or a legitimate email.
It is generally advisable to strike a balance between posters with fraudulent and non-fraudulent messages. In any case, the displayed posters should contain both fraudulent and non-fraudulent messages.

Alternative use in A4 format

You can also print all posters at once in A4 format and display them in meeting rooms or other waiting areas. If necessary, guests can be invited to evaluate the respective emails via a notice. It is up to you whether you print the resolution in short or long form on the back.
